I am going to be better about exercising my internal locus of control. I have experienced a lot of loss over the last year and I have attributed it to God’s plan and will. Although I do still believe God’s will be done, I also see your point that there are still things I can do to direct my path. I am struggling with that statement as I type it though…help! How do I exercise my internal locus of control when I believe so strongly in a predetermined path?

Thanks for the video! You look amazing, I don’t know why you ever had a fear of doing videos 🙂

Thanks for all the love Key 🙂 You bring up some really good points, and I agree with you. That’s why I was careful to use the word “influence” versus “you control everything that happens to you”. Instead, I encourage you to recognize the power you *do* have in each situation.

Your locus of control is more about your perspective. Is everything happening TO you or do you have a hand in how you respond, react and plan?

Take our interaction for example? Was it always predetermined that we’ll be on the phone talking the last week in June? Who knows. What I do know is that I took an action (posted my video), you took an action to leave a comment/text, I have been wanting to connect with you so I responded, YOU then returned the message and gave me a specific time I can contact you and now I don’t doubt that we’ll be on the phone next week.

Was that going to happen if we hadn’t mutually taken the initiative to make our connection happen? The desire to talk had been there all along, but once we took action to set up a time to talk, it’s now going to happen.

To me God has the final say (like in death and serendipitous outcomes), but we’re also granted free will and it’s our responsibility to not be puppets that just float along saying, whatever God wants. To me God has paved the path, but it’s up to us to put one foot in front of the other and actually walk that path even when it’s scary.

In all of my work before I put anything creative out in the world I pray first that God uses me to spread the message people need to hear. I always ask, get “jennifer” out of the way so that YOU can show up. That’s how I connect Spiritually, but it’s still up to me to press record, make the video, and have enough faith to post it on social media. If I don’t, the video doesn’t get made and we wouldn’t be having this dialog.

Does that help clear up what I mean? I hope so! <3 Thanks again for the thoughtful comment.

Jennifer, you killed it! I love this video. I am going to refer to it often over the next month because I have lots of things do to that are out of my comfort zone.
This is such an awesome resource filled with practical, grounded advice that I can easily apply to a multitude of situations that I’m currently facing.
I’m so glad you didn’t keep all this goodness to yourself. You’ve encouraged me to shine and share my gifts, too. 🙂

      Deirdre!
Thank you so much for your comment. I’m so stoked you found the information useful and will be able to apply it to your life both now and later 🙂

  3. Way to go Jennifer! I’m soooo happy to see you take that step into your first video. Shine on lady!!! Thanks for the helpful info too. 🙂

  4. Susie Mordoh says:

OMG! Love seeing you on video! You did a great job and I can’t wait to see your next one.

  5. This is fantastic Jennifer! I love the great tips, you’re totally zeroing in on some common issues. I love “Fear is there to protect and serve you”

    • jennifer says:

Thank you Karen! I appreciate you sharing what you found most helpful about the video. I’m so glad to hear that it resonated with you 🙂

  6. Rachel Powers says:

Loved the video! You look great and the message was right on target. Definitely what I needed to hear today. You even inspired me to pick up the phone – pressed pause, made the call, left a message, pressed play! lol I really loved your psychology 101 and follow up response to Kiata. You know we are standing in faith for healing from the most high, but there is so much we can have influence over right now with the power in us to act. Thanks for sharing and keep it up. Love ya!

    • jennifer says:

Rachel! I can’t express how much your words mean to me! 1st, the fact that the video inspired you to take a bold action makes me want to do back flips! You even paused the video and resumed later?! That is no joke 🙂 Plus, as a woman of faith I appreciate the fact that you feel what I’m saying in the Psych 101 piece. Even you saying you picked up the phone based off what “I” said, I already know that means my prayer was answered and God showed up! All day, every day. Love you!

  7. Tara says:

    You are such an inspiration!

I love that you are living and awesome, whole and fearless life and helping others to do so. I was just telling my fiance what a wonderful person you have always been and how we used to have sleepovers and giggle the night away and and make up funny languages and try to solve the problems of the world.

Sending you love and light from the East Coast. And congrats on your engagement too! If we are ever on the west coast– I’m gonna find you! Would love to catch up properly. 😉

    xoxo

This endorsement from you means everything to me and YES, when you’re on the West Coast, let.me.know! <3 you 🙂
