Hey You!

Checking in, once again, cause the world keeps spinnin’ the news keeps news-in’ and it’s not always lookin’ good.

What to do when you’re a mission-led, soul-centered, business owner with hopes in your heart, dreams in your head, but despair is all around?

You use that heartcenterdness as the strength it is and you take action in taking part in the solution.

It’s the age and the time of the lightworker — YOU who brings hope, peace, and joy the world (in your own magical way).

Taking it beyond platitudes I wanted to share with you 6 ways you can take action today, because the feeling of powerlessness can be overwhelming and despairing at times.

1. Self-care: Tired of that word yet? Welp, it’s going to keep coming up until you get good at it. ‘Cause, be honest, you’re still likely putting yourself last, pushing through your feelings, and ‘shoulding all over yourself. Trust. I’m an achiever and rule-follower. I feel drawn to do what I ‘should’ do. But this past week I whisked off to San Deigo, booked a hotel by the water to tend to myself and my soul.

I can’t pour from an empty cup and I can’t be in service to anyone if I’m depleted and broken down. It’s also hypocritical of me to be ‘all for’ your healing and growth if I’m not in that work myself. So, in ‘putting-the-mask-on-yourself-first’ fashion, what will you do to tend to yourself? Remember, we’re in abnormal times, so not feeling your best is a very ‘normal’ response. There’s absolutely no judgement, do what you need to get aligned the best you can.

2. Call your senators, congresspeople, and representatives: . If you’re not sure who your representatives are, . This is one way you can literally use your voice.

3. Vote!: Another way to exercise your powers and your rights is to make sure you vote. To check your registrations status and make sure you know when elections are happening in your area. In the Bay Area, we have Primaries coming up in a few days and all elections matter. Make sure you’re registered to vote and make sure you show up to exercise your right to decide.

4. Take it to the streets!: I’m not one who likes to protest and be out in these streets, but it feels like that’s what it takes so many times to finally be heard – if you’re down, on Jun 11th, there’s going to be a March For Our Lives nationwide. . If this is what you choose be careful and take all the safety precautions that you can.

5. Donate: If you’re not wanting to be out in the streets, donating is a great way to support the organizations on the ground. These grassroots movements need funding and support and any little bit helps, I’ve been donating regularly to and March For Our Lives is taking donations too. You may also want to research any local or national organizations that speak to you that you’d like to support financially, it really does make a difference.

6. Profit With Purpose: As a business coach to soul-centered entrepreneurs, promoting and selling in times of strife can feel out of alignment from my clients at times. I’m here to say, it’s really important that you, my dear mission-led biz owner, are able to sell what you do no matter what. Not only is what you do transformative and helping people in a positive way, your viability and success are also important because we want you thriving and doing well.

A way you can put some Purpose behind you profiting in any social climate is you can commit that for every dollar you make a percentage goes to an organization of your choice. You can make that percentage 1%, 10%, or 40%, it’s up to you (cause you’re the boss) and you can make it as official or unofficial as you like (though you want to check with your CPA to make sure the logistics are all good with the IRS). This way, the more income you call in, the more positive support you’re able to put out in the world. The more successful you are the more the organizations that matter get the funding they need from you.

I don’t expect you to walk away from this feeling on top of the world, but I do hope it energizes you to know that you can make a difference in your own (not so little) way.

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed individuals can change the world. In fact, it’s the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead.

I want to hear from you!
